Job Description Small, busy Ronkonkoma matrimonial and family law firm seeks an experienced Paralegal / Legal Secretary with a minimum of 3 years of experience for a full-time position. The successful candidate will handle all aspects of matrimonial and family law litigation. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, able to work independently, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be comfortable managing a heavy caseload in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities: • Prepare and file motions and petitions in Supreme and Family Court, • Utilize the NYSCEF filing system for electronic court filings, • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, discovery, and case management, • Draft and submit divorce packages, • Draft and prepare pleadings, subpoenas, correspondence, and other legal documents, • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel, • Maintain accurate records and efficiently manage case files, • Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates regarding case status, • Calendar court appearances, deadlines, and other important dates, • Ensure compliance with court deadlines, filing requirements, and procedures, • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys as needed Qualifications: • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Paralegal, Legal Secretary, or similar role, preferably in matrimonial and family law, • Experience with New York Supreme Court and Family Court procedures, • Proficiency with the NYSCEF filing system, • Strong knowledge of matrimonial and family law terminology and procedures, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, • Ability to prioritize and manage a heavy caseload while meeting deadlines, • Ability to work independently and take initiative, • Strong computer and document management skills, • Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality, • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and opposing counsel Salary commensurate with experience.
