Job DescriptionJob Title: Machine OperatorJob Description This role focuses on setting up, operating, and tending multiple types of cutting and forming machine tools or robots to produce metallic and plastic workpieces according to precise specifications. You inspect and measure parts, follow blueprints and job orders, and ensure machines run safely and efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Responsibilities • Inspect workpieces for defects and measure them to verify accuracy of machine operations using rules, templates, and other measuring instruments., • Observe machine operation continuously to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions and adjust machines as needed to correct issues., • Read and interpret blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications, tooling instructions, and operational sequences., • Set up and operate machines such as lathes, cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, and auxiliary machines to produce metallic and plastic workpieces., • Position, adjust, and secure stock material or workpieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms, either manually or using hoists., • Select, install, and align drills, cutters, dies, guides, and holding devices using templates, measuring instruments, and hand tools., • Replace worn machine accessories such as cutting tools and brushes using appropriate hand tools., • Perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs and adjustments on machines and promptly report the need for major service., • Start machines and operate handwheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms., • Carry out routine machine maintenance, including oiling and cleaning machines, dies, and workpieces, and adding coolant to machine reservoirs., • Follow workplace safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while operating machinery and handling materials., • Support production activities by handling materials, packaging, stacking finished products, and maintaining an organized work area.Essential Skills, • Verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, document work, and collaborate with team members., • Strong attention to detail to identify defects, measure accurately, and maintain quality standards., • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machine issues and make effective adjustments., • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with supervisors and colleagues in a production environment., • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance., • Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders., • Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for efficient manufacturing and distribution., • Ability to perform machine operation tasks safely and consistently., • Ability to handle materials, package, and stack products in a fast-paced environment., • Awareness of workplace safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High school diploma or GED., • 0–2 years of related experience in machine operation, manufacturing, or a similar production environment., • Experience with machine operation, including setup, monitoring, and basic adjustments., • Exposure to material handling, packaging, and stacking processes., • Familiarity with production support activities and working within established safety and quality procedures.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing setting with regular use of cutting and forming machines, including lathes, cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, and auxiliary equipment. You work on-site during a consistent second shift schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment involves standing for extended periods, handling materials, packaging and stacking products, and performing routine machine maintenance. Workplace safety compliance is essential, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and you work around moving machinery, coolants, and cleaning materials while maintaining a clean, organized work area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mcdonough, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.55 - $19.55/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
