Job Description Job Location: Spartan Infrastructure is accepting applicants for establishing a new office in Davis County, UT or adding to our existing team in Mesa, AZ. The Estimator—Transmission is responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for overhead electrical projects ranging from 35kV to 765kV with contracting models ranging from construct only to full Engineer, Procure, & Construct (EPC). *This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned Position Responsibilities and Duties: · Review project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to develop detailed quantity take offs & cost estimates for high voltage projects (IC Voltage 35kV–765kV). · Prepare and analyze labor, material, and construction equipment costs, factoring in productivity, schedule, and construction methodologies. · Collaborate with company subject matter experts for input on engineering, procurement, project management, and construction aspects to validate scope, design assumptions, and risk factors. · Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and alignment with project scope. · Develop proposal documents including statement of work (execution plan), bills of material, quantity take-offs, pricing breakdowns, and clarifications/assumptions. · Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure seamless transition from estimating to project execution. · Maintain an up-to-date cost database of labor, materials, and equipment for use in future estimates. · Identify and communicate risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to strengthen competitiveness. · Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and templates. Objectives or Goals to Measure Performance: · Detailed – Ability to demonstrate patience and determination to generate consistently exceptional and standardized work product without errors · Strong analytical skills - Ability to analyze available options of price, quality, service, and delivery certainty · Organization skills – Strong organization skills to create and manage multiple document scopes concurrently while maintaining accuracy · Time management – Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure most critical deadlines are met · Teamwork – Ability to work closely with other departments and external partners while maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor · Communication skills – Ability to build relationships by effectively communicating with supervisors, co-workers, and external partners · Computer knowledge – Proficient, if not advanced, in Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Outlook, and P6 · Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners · Sense of urgency – Ability to stress urgency for internal and external partners to meet deadlines Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements: · 3-5 years of transmission estimating experience, · Strong understanding of union agreements, trade jurisdictions, and applicable labor rates · Proven ability to solicit, evaluate, and coordinate vendor and subcontractor quotes to support accurate and competitive estimate · Ability to understand substation, switchyard, transmission, electrical design and components, their purpose and use. · Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook · Familiar with Bluebeam · Word processing and/or data entry skills · Proficient in English verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner · Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments · Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials · Reliability, dependability and flexibility \nCompany Description Spartan Infrastructure is an Equal Opportunity Employer At Spartan Infrastructure we celebrate the power of our differences.
