Job DescriptionJob Title: Commercial Electrician – Lighting Specialist (School Renovation Project) Job Description This role focuses on commercial electrical work with a strong emphasis on lighting installation and removal for a major school renovation project. You will remove existing lighting, install new fixtures, and support temporary lighting setups while working with 208V and 480V services in an active school environment. This is a contract position with the potential for extension or transition to a longer-term opportunity based on performance. Responsibilities • Remove and safely tear out existing lighting systems in classrooms and other school areas., • Hang and install new light fixtures according to project specifications and electrical codes., • Rehang and maintain temporary lighting systems that will remain in place until the following year., • Support power connections for new AC units after removal of existing boilers and legacy AC systems., • Work with 208V and 480V electrical services on site while following safety and compliance standards., • Use hand and power tools, including battery drills and battery-powered reciprocating saws, to complete daily tasks efficiently., • Follow detailed instructions and project plans to ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned work., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the project., • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and adhere to all site safety policies., • Collaborate with other electricians and trades on site to coordinate tasks and meet project timelines., • Report daily to site supervision and communicate progress, issues, and any safety concerns promptly., • Work consistent long shifts, including overtime, to support a 61-hour work week schedule.Essential Skills, • Experience as a commercial electrician with a focus on lighting installation and removal., • Proficiency in hanging and installing light fixtures in commercial or institutional environments., • Ability to work safely with 208V and 480V electrical services., • Competence using hand and power tools, including battery drills and battery-powered reciprocating saws., • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and adherence to PPE requirements., • Ability to follow construction drawings, instructions, and site procedures accurately., • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including working at heights and on ladders or lifts., • Reliability to work early morning shifts and maintain a consistent 61-hour work week schedule., • Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and other trades on site.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with EMT conduit installation is highly welcomed., • Masonry rough-in experience is considered a nice-to-have skill., • Comfort working on long-term projects, including multi-year renovation schedules., • Familiarity with school or institutional renovation environments is an advantage.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based on a school renovation project, working primarily in classroom and campus areas. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., structured as a combination of four 9-hour days and two 8-hour days to support a 61-hour work week. The site operates with 208V and 480V services and involves ongoing construction activity. You will work in an active construction environment that may include dust, noise, and varying temperatures. Required attire includes ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses, safety-toed work boots, and a hard hat. You must bring your own tools, including a battery drill and battery-powered reciprocating saw. A harness, lanyard, and beam strap may be required for work at heights; these will be provided if you do not already have them. Safety vests are provided as needed, and adherence to all site safety procedures and PPE requirements is mandatory. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Troy, OH.
