Job DescriptionJob Title: Machine Operator / Material Handling OperatorJob Description This role focuses on operating saw machines and handling raw bar stock to produce large cut discs according to detailed work orders. You will receive and interpret printed orders, pick and move raw materials using forklifts and overhead cranes, and set up and run multiple saw machines while maintaining accurate inventory records. The position requires strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and safe operation of industrial equipment in a busy shop environment. Responsibilities • Receive printed work orders from internal software and review job IDs, raw material IDs, and general instructions before starting work., • Read and interpret job documentation to confirm material specifications, measurements, and production requirements., • Pick and stage raw material from storage areas based on job requirements., • Use a hand scanner to scan raw materials in and out of inventory to maintain accurate inventory counts., • Operate a sit-down forklift to safely move heavy bar stock and finished materials around the facility., • Use overhead cranes and magnets to lift and position heavy bar stock and other materials safely and efficiently., • Load raw material into saw machines according to job instructions and safety guidelines., • Use the machine touchscreen interface to set job parameters, including measurements, quantities, and cutting specifications., • Manually adjust machine tools and settings as needed to achieve proper cuts and maintain quality standards., • Monitor saw machines during operation to ensure consistent performance, quality, and adherence to job specifications., • Load finished material, including large cut discs, onto pallets in preparation for delivery or further processing., • Manage and run at least two saw machines at a time, organizing workflow to minimize downtime and maximize productivity., • Verify that job IDs and product IDs match correctly at each step to prevent errors and ensure traceability., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including managing oil and lubricants safely to reduce slip hazards., • Follow all safety procedures for operating forklifts, cranes, magnets, and saw machines, and report any equipment issues promptly.Essential Skills, • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately according to instruction sheets., • Capability to perform basic math, including fraction conversions, with the support of available cheat sheets at machines., • Strong attention to detail to correctly match job IDs and product IDs and to set precise machine parameters., • Experience with machine operation or machine operating in a manufacturing or industrial environment., • Experience operating a sit-down forklift in a production or warehouse setting., • Experience using overhead cranes and magnets to move heavy materials safely., • Comfort working with industrial saw machines and related production equipment., • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including running at least two saw machines at once., • Willingness and physical ability to work in an industrial shop environment with heavy materials and equipment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous background using manufacturing machines, forklifts, or cranes that enables you to be productive quickly., • Familiarity with using hand scanners or similar devices to track inventory., • Comfort working with oil, lubricants, and other industrial materials in a shop setting., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions consistently and accurately., • Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow established safety procedures and guidelines.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large, open, garage-style production area that reflects a true industrial shop environment. The floor can be somewhat dirty due to oil and lubricants used in the operation of machines and handling of heavy bar stock. The facility is not climate controlled, but multiple fans and heaters help moderate temperature throughout the year. You will work as part of a small team of fewer than five people on each shift, fostering close collaboration and clear communication. The schedule follows a first-shift pattern, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work routine. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moraine, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
