Job Description Special Education Teacher — Home-Based, Middletown Climbing Star provides special education and related services to children across New York State, in the places where they actually live and learn. This case is in a family's home in Middletown, Orange County. THE CASE One student, age 11, with autism. One hour a day, Monday through Friday — five hours a week, at the same time each day, in the student's home. A short, steady block like this suits a certified teacher who already works locally and wants predictable hours close to home, rather than a schedule that shifts from week to week. It sits well alongside a district position or another part-time role. THE DETAILS Pay: $60.00 per hour Hours: five per week, one hour a day, Monday to Friday Location: Middletown, NY, in the student's home Job type: 1099 contract WHAT YOU WILL DO Provide one-on-one special education instruction in the student's home Teach in line with the student's IEP and goals Adapt your materials and approach for a student with autism Keep session documentation current Stay in regular contact with the family and the student's team WHAT YOU NEED NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities, Grades 1-6 (required) Experience teaching a child with autism — strongly preferred, and we will talk if you have related experience with this age group Comfortable working one-on-one in a family home, with a parent present Reliable, because the family plans their week around this hour WHAT IT IS LIKE HERE We are a small team, and we keep the administrative side off your plate.
