Location: Fort Worth, Texas Employment Type: Full-Time, In-Office About the Role We are seeking an experienced Design Project Manager to join our growing design-build team in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced architecturally or engineering-trained professional who understands how multidisciplinary design documentation is developed, coordinated, reviewed, revised, and ultimately issued as a complete construction document package. Our company designs and builds modular facilities for the federal government. Our work combines off-site modular construction with traditional site development, engineering, systems integration, and construction. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in traditional architecture or engineering and apply that experience within our integrated design-build environment. This position will lead the construction document development and coordination for complex projects. Working closely with leadership, this individual will take primary responsibility for coordinating the development of the design and construction document packages across multiple projects simultaneously. What You'll Do Lead Multidisciplinary Design Documentation • Lead the development, coordination, review, and completion of multidisciplinary construction document packages., • Establish and maintain the overall document-development schedule for multiple concurrent projects., • Coordinate architectural and engineering information from internal and external design disciplines., • Understand the purpose and relationship of the various drawings, specifications, calculations, schedules, details, equipment information, and other documentation that comprise a complete construction document package., • Review documents for completeness, consistency, constructability, and coordination between disciplines., • Identify missing, conflicting, or incomplete design information before it impacts the project schedule or construction., • Coordinate changes across multiple disciplines and ensure revisions are incorporated accurately and on schedule., • Assist with drafting and drawing revisions when necessary to support project coordination and document production. Manage Design Reviews and Customer Comments • Receive, organize, track, and disseminate customer comments at multiple design milestones., • Coordinate responses and required revisions with the appropriate disciplines., • Review discipline responses for completeness and consistency., • Prepare clear, concise, and technically appropriate responses to customer comments., • Maintain comment-response tracking and ensure commitments are incorporated into subsequent design submissions., • Recognize when a customer comment requires clarification, additional investigation, or a project-level decision., • Work with company leadership to make timely decisions that balance customer requirements, design intent, constructability, schedule, and company interests. Coordinate Engineering and Specialty Disciplines The successful candidate will coordinate information from a broad range of disciplines and systems, which may include: • Modular building engineering and manufacturing, • Structural engineering, • Civil/site design, • Mechanical engineering, • Electrical engineering, • Fire alarm systems, • Fire sprinkler systems, • Stairs, ramps, and accessibility systems, • Furniture and equipment, • Communications and technology systems, • Security systems, • Other specialty engineering and systems-integration disciplines You will not be expected to independently design or engineer each discipline. You will be expected to understand enough about each discipline to recognize how the pieces fit together, identify coordination issues, ask the right questions, and ensure the appropriate professionals resolve them. Review Submittals and Technical Documentation • Prepare, receive, distribute, track, and review design and material submittals., • Review submittals for general compliance with project requirements and coordination with the design., • Identify discrepancies between approved design documents, submittals, and proposed products or systems., • Support the development of a coordinated and constructible design package through procurement and construction. Support Construction and Project Delivery • Work closely with construction leadership to ensure design decisions support project execution., • Participate in project kickoff meetings, design reviews, coordination meetings, and construction observations., • Travel periodically to project sites, military installations, federal facilities, and other locations as project requirements dictate., • Help bridge the gap between design intent and construction execution in an integrated design-build environment. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who has spent enough time in traditional architecture or engineering to understand how a real construction document package comes together—and has the judgment and organizational ability to make it happen. Required Experience • 5+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, or a closely related A/E environment., • Demonstrated experience participating in or leading the preparation and coordination of construction document packages., • Experience reviewing drawings for coordination, completeness, and constructability., • Experience managing design review comments and coordinating responses across multiple disciplines., • Experience with architectural/engineering submittals, material submittals, or construction administration documentation., • Ability to perform basic-to-intermediate drafting and drawing revisions., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and deadlines., • Ability to work independently, identify problems, and drive them toward resolution., • U.S. Citizenship required., • Ability to successfully complete background screening and obtain access to military installations and other federal facilities., • Valid passport required within 60 days of employment. Preferred Experience • Professional experience as a Project Architect, Architectural Project Manager, Design Manager, Construction Project Manager, Construction Administrator, or similar role., • Experience working within a multidisciplinary architecture/engineering firm., • Experience with design-build delivery., • Experience working on federal, military, government, or secure facilities., • Experience coordinating design reviews with clients., • Bluebeam Revu experience., • AutoCAD experience., • Experience with construction administration., • Experience reviewing shop drawings, product data, material samples, or other technical submittals., • Experience coordinating large, complex projects involving multiple simultaneous sites. The right person will be someone who: • Understands how buildings are designed and documented but does not need to personally design every component., • Can look at a set of drawings and quickly understand what is missing, what doesn't coordinate, and what needs to happen next., • Is comfortable talking with architects, engineers, manufacturers, contractors, and clients., • Can translate a customer comment into a clear action item for the appropriate discipline., • Can take ten different discipline responses and turn them into one clear, intelligent response to the customer., • Is comfortable making decisions when the answer isn't explicitly spelled out., • Knows when to solve a problem independently and when to bring it to leadership., • Can manage deadlines without losing sight of quality., • Understands that a technically correct drawing is not necessarily a constructible or coordinated drawing., • Can respectfully challenge assumptions and identify problems before they become expensive problems., • Enjoys being the person who makes all the pieces come together.
