Job DescriptionJob Title: Construction Project ManagerJob Description The Construction Project Manager supports EPC and program leadership by overseeing day-to-day project operations from pre-construction through completion and warranty periods. This role manages safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relationships, and field staff for EPC, Construction Management, Construction, and Program Management projects. The position offers the opportunity to work on complex transmission and distribution and power-related projects while building strong client relationships and contributing to a high-performing, culture-driven team. Responsibilities • Adhere to company safety programs, trainings, and policies, and actively promote and manage Safety & Health performance for project team members and subcontractors., • Oversee day-to-day construction activities and successfully execute one or multiple projects simultaneously from pre-construction through closeout., • Provide direction and participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost development, and the establishment of critical project objectives., • Develop new and manage existing client relationships, interfacing with clients for proposals and all project-related matters., • Participate in internal and external project risk reviews and consult with the Legal Department as required., • Negotiate prime contracts, construction management contracts, subcontracts, and change orders to support project delivery., • Participate in and support project risk review processes throughout the project lifecycle., • Implement assigned sections of the Project Execution Plan, including construction execution, quality assurance, safety and health, subcontracting strategies, staffing plans, organization charts, and procurement activities., • Develop construction staffing plans, train project teams, coordinate activities across disciplines, and ensure efficient utilization of staff resources., • Oversee development and implementation of site layout, mobilization, and demobilization plans for project sites., • Ensure all applicable project permits are identified, obtained, and maintained throughout the project., • Direct and oversee the RFP and bid process, including scope development, bidder evaluation, and selection of subcontractors and suppliers., • Review, approve, and communicate internal and external reports, including budgets, cash flow forecasts, and project status updates., • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure timely development and distribution of engineering deliverables., • Manage downstream contract administration, including RFIs, submittals, change management, project closeout, documentation, and claims mitigation., • Oversee invoicing processes for prime contracts, subcontractors, and client contractors to ensure accurate and timely billing., • Coordinate and facilitate commissioning and startup teams to support successful project turnover., • Implement, audit, and oversee project documentation to maintain accurate and complete records., • Confirm insurance, taxes and duties, licensures, and bonding requirements are in place and compliant with project needs., • Conduct safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments to monitor project performance., • Oversee and participate in non-conformance reporting and corrective action processes., • Facilitate cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure development, project setup and closeout, and field progress tracking., • Develop and manage materials receiving and inventory control processes to support efficient construction operations., • Review contract documents with field staff to ensure understanding and compliance with project requirements., • Direct project turnover documentation, warranty administration, project closeout, and recordkeeping activities., • Support communication with governmental, industry, and public entities related to project execution., • Review construction field reports and use findings to drive continuous improvement and issue resolution., • Mentor and train interns, coordinators, craft supervision, and assistant project managers to support their professional growth., • Provide performance feedback and guidance for project team members to promote development and accountability., • Manage community and building trades relationships to support project labor needs and stakeholder engagement., • Develop and implement project labor agreements as needed for project execution., • Onboard craft and field supervision, ensuring they understand project expectations, safety standards, and procedures., • Manage composite crew rates for labor and equipment costs to support accurate estimating and cost control., • Manage overall project staffing, ensuring appropriate resources are assigned and utilized effectively., • Manage labor burdens including classifications, benefits, and labor laws to ensure compliance and accurate cost tracking., • Maintain accurate craft classifications and progression records to support workforce planning and development., • Uphold craft competency and training standards across the project workforce., • Estimate, forecast, and manage craft install unit rates to support project planning and cost management., • Manage earned value, schedule performance, change management, and cost metrics to drive project success., • Mentor and foster craft training, identifying advancement opportunities and supporting career growth within the project team., • Manage construction equipment inventory to ensure availability, proper utilization, and cost control., • Work at project sites as required based on project needs and phases.Essential Skills, • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related field., • At least 5 years of project management experience, including at least 1 year in the transmission and distribution (T+D) space., • Proven experience as a standalone Project Manager responsible for full project lifecycle management., • Strong background in construction project management, including safety, quality, schedule, and cost control., • Experience with EPC, Construction Management, Construction, or Program Management projects., • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and manage day-to-day construction activities., • Demonstrated capability to develop and manage client relationships and interface directly with clients., • Experience in project planning, scheduling, estimating, and cost development., • Ability to negotiate prime contracts, CM contracts, subcontracts, and change orders., • Experience participating in and managing project risk reviews., • Strong skills in contract administration, including RFIs, submittals, change management, and closeout., • Ability to manage commissioning and startup activities., • Experience managing project documentation, permitting, and compliance requirements., • Capability to lead and mentor project teams, including field staff and junior professionals., • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites approximately one week per month.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Direct document control experience, including management of project records and turnover documentation., • Experience with project scheduling tools and techniques., • Experience with cost control and financial reporting for construction projects., • Proficiency with project management software platforms., • background in project engineering and coordination, particularly in distribution engineering and site development., • Experience with capital projects and commercial project management., • Exposure to oil and gas, transmission, transmission and distribution, and power distribution projects., • Ability to develop staffing plans, labor agreements, and manage craft classifications and progression., • Experience managing earned value, schedule metrics, and change management processes., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, governmental agencies, industry partners, and internal teams., • Interest in long-term career growth, with potential to progress from technical roles into project and program management., • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, culture-driven team environment.Work Environment This role is based out of a downtown Lexington, KY office located in a high-rise building, with a highly flexible and collaborative work environment. The schedule follows a 9/80 structure, providing regular flexibility in work hours. When not in the Lexington office, the Construction Project Manager will attend client meetings and visit project sites, primarily in Louisville, KY and surrounding areas for transmission and distribution projects. Mileage for travel to Louisville for client meetings and site visits is expensed, and overnight travel typically occurs once per quarter. Some after-hours meetings may be required to accommodate clients and stakeholders across different time zones. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
