Driver- Transportation: Duties & Responsibilities Monday- Friday; Hourly; Medical Benefits; Earned vacation/sick time; Holidays Driver Responsibilities Transport and Escort *Transport older adults to and from the center and occasionally to various destinations as required. (i.e., medical appointments, benefits , etc.) *Ensure the safety of the passengers through the use of seat belts, wheel chair brackets and other safety devices. *Ensure that vehicle safety is adhered to at all times (i.e., passengers are secured and seated before driver moves) *Assist in the scheduling of routes. *Complete daily passenger log. *Collect and record participants contributions. *Ensure all required vehicle signs/postings are visible and up-to-date. Vehicle Maintenance *Keep vehicle clean (inside & outside) and in good operating condition. *Inspect vehicle daily and report any operational or structural defects immediately. *Oversee the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of the vehicle (gas, oil, changing tires, wheelchair lift & other inspections, fire extinguisher etc.) *Keep daily gasoline and mileage records *Keep vehicle repair log *Pick up and return the vehicle to the garage or parking place daily. Duties Safely operate 12 passenger van in compliance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with mobility needs, including wheelchair assistance and boarding/alighting procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary, to address passenger health or safety issues promptly. Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle interior and exterior, performing pre-trip inspections and reporting any mechanical issues immediately. Communicate effectively with passengers using clear language; manage behavior and discipline when needed to ensure a respectful environment. Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments to ensure on-time arrivals while prioritizing passenger safety. Adhere to all driving codes, policies, and local/state commercial driving laws while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. Experience Proven experience in driving, including transit bus operation, school bus driving, truck driving with a strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations. Experience working with seniors is highly desirable; ability to manage behavior and provide compassionate customer service. Knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation situations such as accidents or medical emergencies; CPR certification is a plus. Familiarity with wheelchair assistance techniques Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are an advantage for serving diverse communities. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements; knowledge of vehicle codes and transportation safety regulations required. Summary: Roadway Moving is seeking experienced and dependable CDL Class A OTR Freight Drivers to transport freight warehouse-to-warehouse between our nationwide hub locations.
