Job DescriptionJob Title: Mig WelderJob Description This role focuses on performing MIG welding on structural steel components used in concrete construction, such as bracings, anchors, embeds, and support assemblies. You will read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings, prepare materials using fabrication equipment, and produce high-quality welds that meet strict dimensional and quality standards. The position requires safe and efficient operation of welding and fabrication tools, consistent productivity, and close collaboration with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve fabrication issues. Responsibilities • Perform MIG welding on structural steel products, including concrete bracings, anchors, embeds, and support assemblies., • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and written work instructions to complete jobs accurately., • Prepare materials for welding using grinders, saws, and other fabrication equipment., • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality, dimensional, and structural specifications., • Operate welding machines and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently., • Maintain consistent productivity while meeting established quality standards and production schedules., • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area., • Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet required tolerances., • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering personnel to resolve fabrication and fit-up issues., • Handle and position structural steel components, anchors, and embeds as required for welding., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support manufacturing and fabrication operations.Essential Skills, • Minimum 1 year of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment., • Ability to pass a practical weld test demonstrating proficiency in MIG welding on structural steel., • Proven experience reading and interpreting blueprints and fabrication drawings., • Knowledge of welding processes, weld symbols, and the proper use of measuring tools., • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality workmanship., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks., • Ability to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment., • High school diploma or GED preferred.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience welding structural steel components used in concrete construction and embedded steel products., • AWS certification or equivalent welding credentials., • Forklift experience for moving materials and finished products within the facility., • Overhead crane experience for safely handling and positioning heavy structural steel components., • Familiarity with concrete construction accessories and embedded steel products., • Comfort working with stainless steel and other structural steel materials.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a hot manufacturing environment where structural steel components are fabricated and welded. The standard shift runs from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. You will work around welding machines, grinders, saws, and overhead material-handling equipment, and spend much of the shift standing and handling steel parts. The facility follows a structured attendance point system: ½ point for tardiness (1 minute or more past scheduled start time), ½ point for an absence with prior notification of at least 24 hours, ½ point for a partial or incomplete shift, 1 point for an absence with notification on the day of the absence before the shift ends, and 2 points plus final warning for an absence without notification (no call/no show). Within the first 90 days, 3 points result in a verbal warning; 6 points result in a written warning; 8 points may result in a 3-day suspension without pay; and 10 points may result in termination without further notice. Points roll off 12 months after they are accumulated. You should be prepared for industrial conditions, consistent physical activity, and adherence to established safety and attendance policies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
