Job Description Powder Coating Technician This role focuses on preparing metal parts and applying powder coatings in an industrial environment to meet precise specifications and quality standards. You clean, sandblast, mask, and inspect surfaces, operate spray guns and related equipment, monitor curing processes, and ensure finished products meet required thickness, color, and coverage. You also maintain equipment, follow safety procedures, and support production documentation and inventory activities. Responsibilities • Prepare metal parts for coating by thoroughly cleaning, sandblasting, masking, and inspecting surfaces to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality., • Operate powder coating spray guns, paint sprayers, and related industrial painting equipment in a paint booth environment., • Apply powder coatings and other industrial paints according to work orders, blueprints, and specifications, ensuring compliance with established quality standards., • Load and unload parts from curing ovens and other coating equipment, handling components safely and efficiently., • Monitor oven temperatures and curing times to ensure coatings cure correctly and consistently., • Inspect finished products for coating thickness, color consistency, coverage, and defects using appropriate measuring and inspection tools., • Perform touch-ups or rework on coated parts as needed to meet quality requirements., • Mix and prepare coatings, powders, and related materials in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and production specifications., • Assist with inventory management of powders, paints, supplies, and related materials to support continuous production., • Maintain powder coating equipment, paint booths, spray guns, and work areas in clean, organized, and safe condition., • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the metal shop and paint booth., • Record production data and complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner to support production tracking and quality control., • Collaborate with team members in an industrial and production environment to meet daily output and quality targets., • Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily production activities. Skills & Qualifications • Experience with powder coating, industrial painting, or spray gun operation in a production or manufacturing environment., • Ability to prepare surfaces using cleaning, sandblasting, masking, and other industrial finishing techniques., • Proficiency in operating powder coating equipment, paint sprayers, and working within a paint booth environment., • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to apply coatings accurately., • Knowledge of coating techniques, industrial paint application, and relevant quality standards., • Skill in using measuring and inspection tools to verify coating thickness, coverage, and overall finish quality., • Capability to work in a metal shop setting and handle marine or industrial coating applications when required., • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks in a production environment., • Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality finishes., • Adherence to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)., • High school diploma or GED preferred., • Previous experience in powder coating, painting, manufacturing, or industrial finishing is preferred., • Familiarity with mixing coatings and managing coating materials in a production setting., • Comfort working in industrial, production, or marine-related coating environments., • Ability to maintain organized documentation and production records., • Reliability and willingness to support team goals and production schedules. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
