Job DescriptionJob Title: Manufacturing TechnicianJob Description This role focuses on manufacturing and blending high-end gel coat chemical products used on fiberglass exterior products such as boats, RVs, bathtubs, and similar applications. You will work in a lab and production environment, following detailed batch procedures to mix, test, and package gel coat products while maintaining quality, safety, and production efficiency. The position offers hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing, exposure to quality systems and process improvements, and strong long-term career growth potential within a stable, global manufacturing organization. Responsibilities • Review the big batch schedule at the start of the shift to determine which products to mix., • Obtain the appropriate batch slip from the production office and verify that it matches the scheduled product., • Review raw materials listed on the batch ticket and confirm all required materials are available to complete the batch., • Record all required information on the batch ticket accurately and legibly., • Mix batches according to established mixing procedures and instructions on the batch ticket., • Take samples from the mix tank at appropriate stages for testing., • Prepare spray-outs (spray ups) for color matching and quality checks., • Deliver samples, spray-ups, and batch tickets to the lab for testing and approval., • Work on additional batches while previous batches are being tested to maintain production flow., • Once the batch is approved, pack out the product into containers as specified on the ticket (e.g., drums, pails)., • Pull and retain a sample halfway through the batch and ensure it is properly identified and documented., • Record the weight of each container and ensure all pack-out information is accurately documented on the batch ticket., • After packing the first drum, bring a pint retain (half full) from the pack-out arm to the lab for a cleanliness check., • Ensure all containers are properly labeled, sealed, and stored according to company procedures., • Deliver completed batch tickets to the production office and retain samples to the lab as required., • Operate production equipment such as mixers, blenders, and related batch processing equipment safely and efficiently., • Support general production activities including packaging, sanitization, and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP)., • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in the production and lab areas., • Work cooperatively with lab, production, and quality teams to support continuous process improvement and reliable production output.Essential Skills, • Experience in manufacturing production, preferably in chemical, batch, or blending environments., • Hands-on experience with batch mixing, batch processing, and batch ticket or batch record handling., • Ability to follow detailed batch sheets, mixing procedures, and production instructions., • Comfort working with mixing, blending, and packaging equipment in a production setting., • Ability to perform simple math to measure, weigh, and record materials and finished products., • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis., • Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts., • Ability to stand for long periods of time during production shifts., • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled production facility., • Ability to pass a physical exam as required for the role., • Willingness and ability to work both 1st and 2nd shifts as needed., • Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturday shifts., • Attention to detail and accuracy when recording weights, batch information, and labeling containers., • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP).Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment., • Background in chemical manufacturing, gel coat production, or resin/composites manufacturing., • Familiarity with batch record review, batch release, and batch documentation practices., • Experience with sanitization procedures and maintaining clean production equipment and work areas., • Exposure to quality control, laboratory testing, or color matching processes., • Interest in long-term career growth within chemical manufacturing, composites, or industrial production., • Desire to work in an innovation-focused environment that supports process improvements and advanced materials., • Interest in working for a global manufacturer with multiple sites and career development opportunities.Work Environment This position is based in a privately owned chemical manufacturing facility that produces gel coat products in Orlando. You will work in a combined lab and production environment with a blue-collar, hands-on atmosphere. The facility operates two shifts Monday through Friday: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. You must be flexible and willing to work either shift as needed. Training will occur on either the first or second shift, depending on operational needs. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with the expectation of overtime and occasional Saturday work; Saturday shifts typically run from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The production area is a non-climate-controlled facility, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. The work involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working around mixing, blending, and packaging equipment. The environment emphasizes safety, good manufacturing practices, and teamwork, and offers exposure to quality systems, laboratory operations, and process improvement initiatives. Dress will align with a blue-collar production and lab setting, including appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
