Hours: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Additional hours and compensations may be available for professional development, planning, and special events). Days may vary for different stuff members.
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience). For qualified starting 25$ an hour.
About MM BrightPath Academy
MM BrightPath Academy is an afterschool enrichment program dedicated to helping elementary school students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our program provides homework assistance, academic enrichment, communication development, and engaging learning experiences in a safe and supportive environment.


Currently we are seeking enthusiastic, dependable college students and aspiring educators who are passionate about helping children succeed for the academic year 2026-2027.
Position Summary:
The Afterschool Academic Tutor provides individualized and small-group academic support to students attending the MM BrightPath Academy Afterschool Program at PS 189. Tutors work closely with the Program Director and staff to create a positive learning environment that encourages confidence, independence, and academic growth.
Responsibilities:
·       Provide homework assistance in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and other subjects.
·       Reinforce classroom learning using age-appropriate instructional strategies.
·       Encourage positive study habits and organizational skills.
·       Monitor student progress and communicate concerns to program staff.
·       Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
·       Support students with varying learning styles and abilities.
·       Assist student with educational games, literacy activities, and enrichment projects.
·       Encourage positive behavior through patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
·       Help supervise students during transitions and program activities.
·       Attend staff meetings and required trainings.
Preferred Qualifications:
·       Currently enrolled in a college or university (Education, Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Child Development, English, Mathematics, Science, or related field preferred).
·       High school diploma required.
·       Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
·       Responsible, punctual, patient, and dependable.
·       Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.
·       Passion for helping children succeed academically.

·       Ability to explain concepts in simple, engaging ways.
·       Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
·       Leadership and teamwork abilities.
