Job Description GPS Home Concepts is a Charlotte-area residential construction company specializing in substantial home additions and high-end renovation projects. We help homeowners create more space and improve the way they live without leaving the neighborhoods they value. Our work requires disciplined planning, clear communication, strong craftsmanship, and dependable coordination from the first site walk through final completion. We're looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to become the Owner's field leader—the person who keeps projects moving, trades aligned, job sites safe and organized, materials ready, and homeowners informed. This is a hands-on field leadership role, not a desk-only management position. The Opportunity The mission of this role is to create predictable, high-quality project delivery so GPS Home Concepts can take on more residential addition and renovation work without sacrificing craftsmanship, communication, or client trust. You will initially work closely with the Owner to learn GPS Home Concepts' project standards, client experience, trade network, and systems. As trust and competence are established, you will take meaningful field responsibility off the Owner's plate and help create the operational capacity required to run multiple projects. What You'll Own Field Execution • Lead daily field coordination for assigned residential addition and renovation projects., • Keep projects progressing according to scope, quality standards, and schedule., • Walk active job sites daily and identify issues before they become delays., • Resolve field issues and keep projects moving toward their next critical milestone. Trade Coordination & Scheduling • Build, maintain, and communicate weekly project schedules., • Maintain a rolling two-week look-ahead schedule., • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and deliveries., • Ensure each trade knows when to arrive, what work is expected, and what must be completed before the next phase begins., • Identify schedule threats early and communicate changes promptly. Materials & Logistics • Verify materials and equipment are available before work begins., • Coordinate deliveries and receiving., • Identify material shortages before they stop production., • Support material pickup and delivery logistics when necessary during the company's growth phase. Quality Control • Inspect work in progress and verify workmanship before the next phase begins., • Identify defects, deviations from plans, and constructability issues., • Drive corrections before they become expensive rework., • Protect completed work throughout the construction process. Safety & Job-Site Standards • Maintain clean, secure, organized, and professional job sites., • Enforce practical safety standards for employees, subcontractors, homeowners, and visitors., • Identify and escalate safety concerns promptly. Homeowner Experience • Communicate professionally, respectfully, and clearly with homeowners., • Keep homeowners informed about project progress and site activity., • Help protect the client experience throughout construction, particularly when working in occupied homes. Documentation & Technology • Maintain accurate daily logs and progress photos., • Document inspections, material status, issues, schedule updates, and change-order information., • Keep project-management systems current., • Use construction-management software and company technology to maintain accurate project records. Hands-On Problem Solving GPS Home Concepts is a growing company, and the Superintendent may need to get directly involved to keep a project moving. This can include light carpentry, framing, punch-list work, material pickup or delivery coordination, protecting completed work, or helping the team overcome an unexpected field constraint. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, exercises good judgment, and solves problems rather than waiting to be told what to do. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications • 8+ years of residential construction experience, including substantial work with additions, renovations, framing, or similarly complex residential projects., • 3+ years of experience leading crews, subcontractors, trades, or job sites as a Superintendent, Lead Carpenter, Foreman, Project Manager, or comparable capacity., • Strong working knowledge of residential framing, construction sequencing, plans, specifications, and building materials., • Proven ability to coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, inspections, and changing site conditions., • Ability to read construction drawings and identify inconsistencies or constructability issues., • Strong judgment, organization, follow-through, and attention to craftsmanship., • Comfortable using smartphones, email, photos, spreadsheets, and project-management technology in the field., • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation., • Ability to travel between Charlotte-area job sites., • Ability to perform the physical demands of an active construction site, including walking job sites, climbing stairs or ladders, and safely lifting or moving materials as required., • Must maintain a good driving record. Preferred Qualifications • Demonstrated expertise in residential framing, additions, structural modifications, or renovation sequencing., • OSHA 10 certification; OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred., • Familiarity with CoConstruct, Buildertrend, or comparable construction project-management software., • Experience working in occupied homes., • Experience with North Carolina residential permitting and inspections., • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus. Compensation & Benefits Compensation • $70,000–$80,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience., • Eligibility for performance-based bonuses based on yearly and/or quarterly performance., • Opportunities for compensation growth as company project volume and responsibilities increase. During the company's initial growth phase, a company cargo van may be used when the Superintendent is supporting material supply and logistics. As operations grow, dedicated logistics support is planned. Work Schedule The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, including a total of one hour of breaks. Saturday work is generally not expected but may be required for emergencies or when necessary to support project operations. The Superintendent is expected to be available for after-hours emergencies when necessary. What Success Looks Like First 30 Days You understand GPS Home Concepts' active projects, trade relationships, project workflow, field standards, systems, and homeowner communication expectations. By 60 Days You independently manage daily field coordination and maintain reliable short-term schedules for assigned work. By 90 Days You reduce Owner fire drills, improve material readiness and schedule visibility, proactively coordinate trades, and reliably manage assigned field operations. Long Term You become a trusted field leader who helps GPS Home Concepts increase project capacity while protecting workmanship, customer experience, and profitability.
