This is a community-based position. The DSP will provide support in the individual’s home and assist with safe, structured participation in community activities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, patient, professional, and comfortable working independently in a one-on-one setting. Our approach to services is person-centered, meaning we focus on the individual’s preferences in what they would like out of services. a DSP who can assist him with maintaining his home and completing daily household tasks. Support includes keeping the home tidy, taking out and bringing in trash and recycling, grocery shopping, laundry, changing bed sheets, keeping his room clean, gardening, and composting. Liam also needs assistance with transportation and accompaniment to his volunteer commitments. If possible, the DSP should also be able to transport Liam to his weekly speech therapy appointment in Morristown, NJ. The ideal DSP should also have experience working with behavioral needs and be able to provide patience, redirection, and appropriate support when needed.
